Periodic notes: daily, weekly, and monthly in Reborn Notes

One click opens or creates a note for the current day, week, or month. Folder and filename format are configurable per period, and the settings themselves sync between devices in zero-knowledge architecture.

Reborn Notes (re/notes) has gained a new feature to help you plan and review your time. We’ve introduced periodic notes: daily, weekly, and monthly. With a single click in the sidebar, you can open or create a new note tied to a specific period.

Our goal was to make the daily journaling routine as frictionless as possible, without adding complexity to the app or imposing new workflows on you.

How it works in practice

In the icon bar on the left side of the app UI, you’ll find a new daily note icon (you can also add weekly and monthly note icons in the app settings if you want to use them). Clicking the icon triggers a very simple mechanism:

  1. The app determines today’s date, the current week, or the current month.
  2. It looks in your configured folder. If a note for that period already exists, it opens immediately.
  3. If not, it automatically creates a new one and opens it for editing.
  4. If the configured folder doesn’t exist yet, the app will create it for you (e.g. under the default name Daily Notes, Weekly Notes or Monthly Notes).

Everything happens with one click, you just open exactly the note you need.

What can you use it for?

These three simple tools fit naturally into a daily routine:

  • Morning journal / quick notes: Click the “Today’s Note” icon, jot down your key thoughts to start the day, a to-do list, or whatever you like. Then, if you want to return to that note later that same day to add something or read it, you can do so with a single click.
  • Weekly review: At the end of the week or at various points during it, click the weekly note icon to add what went well, what needs improvement, and your plans for the coming days.
  • Monthly reflection: The perfect place for a broader look at your health, finances, projects, or long-term goals, away from the daily noise.

Because each entry is just a regular note in Reborn Notes, you can easily link individual days together, add tags, and search through your entire archive instantly.

Privacy: a journal only you can read

Your journal is your absolutely private space. In line with the Zero Knowledge philosophy of our apps, periodic notes are fully encrypted on your device. This means that no one — not even us as the app’s creators or server providers — has access to what you write on any given day. Your thoughts remain exclusively yours.
